The denim tanktop: 2 ways to wear

Talking denim today with not 1 but 2 Summer outfits! Click through for all of the inspoooooo.

If there’s one consistent fabric in my wardrobe, it must be denim. Denim can come in so many ways, forms and shapes and for today’s post I’ve shot a unique denim piece that had never crossed my closet before: the denim tanktop. Or denim sleeveless vest, if you will!

This super cool piece is Belgian design by Façon Jacmin, a timeless denim brand for the modern woman. They asked me about the importance of denim to me, and how I’d style their Marcel top of course!

Personally I think denim is for all seasons, not just for festival season for instance. Take a cool all-denim look with a high-waist jeans and a loose denim shirt: simply add a warm trench and boots and you’re all set for Autumn and Winter to come.

For Summer we instantly think of the classic denim shorts, but the Marcel top proves that you can really play around with denim without going for the most obvious choice.

Style as a breezy tanktop (or a dress, if you’re shorter than me) with just a bikini underneath, or opt for one of the more dressed up looks I had in mind. Because, no, denim doesn’t HAVE to be casual either! You can perfectly dress up denim for a meeting or a party too. I created two outfits with the Marcel top to show you all of the different directions you can go with it. This is what I call versatile!

First up: a cool weekend look to head to your family or go out brunching with girlfriends. I wore the denim top as a vest on top of a loose maxi dress with smart animal print to create some contrast. The satin slippers, structured bag and golden chain necklaces add all kinds of different textures, giving the entire look a very sophisticated feel.

Chic and comfy at once — that’s how I like it!

The second outfit is more of an edgy LA-inspired look! As I work in fashion, I’m very lucky that my job doesn’t require very formal meetings. Thus, this is something I would definitely wear on a daily base and even show up in for a lil business talk on a warm Summer day! Oh wait, I actually already did 🙂 Simply replace the shorts by wide legged jeans or a refined cigarette fit with cropped leg if you want some extra coverage.

The big collar shirt gives the look both a cute and an elegant feel, while the boots and cap make everything quite edgy again. A fun mix between chic and casual, if you ask me.
