Straw & the city

Remember my inspiration post on straw baskets last week? Next to a few stunning outfits that reflect how I’d like to wear one this season, I also added a little wishlist of straw bags that are currently in store. I stopped by at Zara to get my favourite one of the list, this cute rectangular bag! The clash between the clean cut and the kitschy 70s palmtree print at the inside is what I adore about it.

To show you that I was very serious about introducing a straw bag to a city look, I combined my new baby with a very minimalist office outfit. I think that it works perfectly, bringing a sense of nonchalance and fun to something that’s usually pretty strict. So, let’s all celebrate a Bring Your Basket To Work Day tomorrow?

Let me know what you think! Would you wear your straw bag to the office?

Super cool, minimalistic and masculine outfit!

Cool, fresh, new! I love it.

The bag coupled with the rest of the outfit doesn’t gel for me at all. The outfit is sophisticated, masculine, and monochrome, with a sporty edge from the shoes to dress it down; the straw bag with the yellow and green palm print lining reads young girl on a picnic. The two styles are just too different. The Cult Gaia it bag of the moment could have worked as a grown up take on a picnic basket from the simple lines and minimal design, but this particular bag seems like it belongs on a picnic or at the beach, whereas the outfit would look totally out of place there. To me it feels a bit like you’re carrying a child’s bag for them. I do love the outfit sans bag though and I think it could possibly work with a straw bag, but not this one for me.

    • Hi Sophia! I totally get your point, these styles are VERY different and not everyone would wear these together! But I had lots of fun experimenting 🙂

  • totally in love with this straw bag – really cool!
