How to rock a maxi dress

Maxi dresses are among my favourite pieces to wear during Spring and Summer, because they are easy and fabulous at the same time.

Especially when temperatures rise during Summer, I’d pick a maxi dress over anything else: it’s effortless (you literally put on 1 piece and done), it’s breezy (let it floooow) and it perfectly protects you from the sun (I’m the kind of person to apply factor 50 all the time).

I do however notice that a lot of people struggle or hesitate to wear maxi dresses! So why not share a few personal tips on how to find & rock your new favourite wardrobe piece 🙂 Now, what to take note of?

1. SHAPE

Being a tall person, I love oversized and long-sleeved in terms of maxi dresses annnnd basically all other clothes. Luckily there’s something for everyone: you can opt for a version with a big split in front that shows off your long legs, you can add a belt to create extra waist, or you can wear a super fitted maxi dress to flaunt your figure. Try on as many maxi dresses as possible to find your perfect match!

2. COLOUR

The bolder, the better right? I personally believe a maxi dress is ALWAYS bold, even if it’s in black or white. Wearing 1 piece only is strong y’all. But if you want to stand out just a little bit extra, you can opt for a bright colour or a fun print. Keep in mind to pick a print that’s proportionate to your size: small prints are better for thin or short people, while large prints flatter tall people more.

3. ACCESSORIES

Since you’re only wearing 1 piece, things might get boring easily. Make sure to put some extra effort into your accessorizing game, as these finishing touches determine your look. A straw bag gives your dress instant beach vibes, while a small party bag changes the mood to sophisticated. Think about scarves, belts, jewelry, bags, sunglasses and your shoes of course!

Hopefully this encourages you to try and find your perfect maxi dress for this season! I’m wearing a stunning one by Belgian brand Julia June which you can find here and here in different colours.

Let me know what you think!
