Remember when I went on a short citytrip to Porto with my family at the end of June? We all needed a quick getaway after our exams and Portugal was on of our first choices because of the nice weather and the cheap flights. Porto turned out to be a very small and cute city that is perfect for strolling around for about two days. There are lots of restaurants and cafés at the river and I really liked the place for shopping too (see my Porto shoplog!). It just striked us a bit that apparently the medieval city itself was half deserted by the inhabitants. Very sad to see, as most of the beautiful old houses are unoccupied and going downhill.
Anyway, here is (finally!) a short Porto photo diary in order to forget the rainy days we're going through in Belgium right now. Weeee-hoo.
The traditional indoor market 'Mercado do Bolhão' with fresh fruits, spices, candy and lots of fish.

Porto has a beach too, which is only 20min away by tram!
Casa de Mateus in Vila Real, an 18th century villa that is famous because of the Mateus wine.
Reminds you of another city, no...? ;-)
Having dinner at a very cozy jazz bar and restaurant, called Tribeca.

Last gorgeous view... On the other side of the river you see the old port houses, where the famous port wine (or just 'port') is brewed by companies like Sandeman, Churchill's and Offley.
Happy Saturday everyone ;-)
